Dear Prospective ICLS Student:

Thank you for your interest in earning your University of London law degree with ICLS.

Tradition

If you’ve made the decision to earn a University of London law degree, you should know that for over 100 years, the University of London External Programme has been leading the world in offering people like you the opportunity to advance your careers via distance learning.

Recognition

I too earned my University of London External Programme law degree via distance learning. My University of London degree was fully recognized by Widener University School of Law in Wilmington, Delaware for purposes of earning my LL.M. (Masters of Law) in Corporate Law & Finance. Widener University School of Law is an American Bar Association (ABA) approved law school.

After earning my LL.M., I passed the North Carolina State bar examination and today, in addition to teaching English law for the International Center for Legal Studies, I practice Immigration law, Criminal law, Family law and Civil Litigation in my private legal practice.

I am living proof that you can enter the legal profession in the United States (and many other countries) with a University of London External Programme degree in law.

Academic Support & Assessment

I co-founded ICLS because when I studied for my University of London External Programme degree, there was very little academic support. I had to make enormous scarifies to earn my law degree, and I always wished there were people who could "teach" and "assess" my work to the University of London examination standard. In fact, the challenges of earning a degree under the External Programme were far more demanding compared to my first degree experience at the London School of Economics as a full time student!

When I studied for my London degree in the United States, I was maintaining a full time career and supporting a family – not an easy task. I mention this to let you know that if I could do it, you can too.

I cannot, however, accept credit for my success unless I also reveal my secret – my support network. My wife and family were necessary support pillars for me to complete my studies. You will need family support, moral support and determination – in the end, your degree will be the culmination of a "team" or "group" effort. I assure you, if you complete the University of London External Programme law degree you will be a different person and the experience will make you far more qualified compared to the traditional brick and mortar law graduate.

With the advent of the Internet, my vision to deliver  the "London experience" to University of London External Programme students worldwide was realized 2002.

Today, ICLS has achieved an enormous first – successfully building the first online and face to face law program based out of North America for University of London External Programme students worldwide utilizing lectures, classes, essay assignments and individualized mentoring essential to maximize each student's learning of the law.

ICLS e-learning Package

ICLS students receive exclusive notes prepared by ICLS tutors that compliment ICLS lectures. ICLS students also receive  revision lectures prior to their exams.

Individual Mentoring

ICLS also provides an individual academic advisor for each student.  In fact, I personally mentor many students at ICLS.

ICLS Writing Workshop

ICLS provides face-to-face writing workshops for students able to attend and records these very events for all ICLS students world wide.

ICLS Annual March Revision Weekend

All ICLS students are provided with review lectures and/or live face to face sessions in Toronto or New York City.  All live sessions are recorded for all ICLS students registered in that course.

ICLS Global Reach

ICLS students live in the United Kingdom, Japan, Hong Kong, Peru, United States, Holland, Canada, Bermuda, Trinidad, Jamaica and other countries.

Experienced Law Tutors

ICLS has built its unique learning program by harnessing the talent of experienced University of London law faculty and legal professionals from the UK, Canada and the United States.

ICLS utilizes the talents of practicing attorney’s and barristers, like myself, who have completed the University of London External Programme in laws. This without question provides a unique insight into "what it takes to succeed."

Law degree Standard

The University of London law degree is beyond reproach and continues to maintain it’s prestigious reputation worldwide for academic excellence. In fact, according to the recent  Times of London Good  University Guide, the University of London law departments at the London School of Economics (LSE), Kings College and University College (UCL) consistently rank in the top 10 school of law out of some 85-law departments in the UK. The External Programme is derived of the very same law departments and the academic standard and quality of the External Programme is identical since there is only "one" University of London degree.

That is why I co-founded ICLS, and that is why you now have the tools to get the job done.

Applications are now being accepted for for the September 1st, 2008 term.  To obtain your ICLS and University of London applications, simply click here.

We look forward to helping you earn the University of London law degree.

Sincerely yours,

George D. Pappas, Esq., B.Sc.(Econ) Hon., LL.B.(Hon), LL.M., M.Phil/Ph.D. (Cand.) Birkbeck College, University of London

ICLS 2008 LL.B. Revision Weekend

I recently attended ICLS's review weekend with respect to my first year examinations for the University of London's LL.B. External Programme.

I feel that the review sessions provided me with an overall sense of much needed focus as I move into the final phase of my revision prior to the upcoming examinations.

Thank you ICLS for putting together such an invaluable review weekend."

ICLS 2007 LL.B. Revision Weekend

"I just wanted to take a moment to thank you very much for your wonderful lectures in Toronto this weekend.  You have made it much easier for me to begin revising for my examinations in June.  I know that it must have been an exhausting weekend, and appreciate your efforts all the more!  Your written material is excellent, and will assist me in organizing my studies.  I hope to have the pleasure of participating in a weekend next year..."

ICLS Writing Workshop Equips Students

"I just wanted to say Thank You to you and your team for executing such a productive weekend...  Saturday was very intensive and by the end of the writing session I felt confident in myself, as I learned the techniques only ICLS could have taught. I now know what the examiners are looking for and most of all I understand how to organize the vast information I have per subject. You were organized, enthusiastic and addressed relevant issues. I am looking forward to the March Seminar. Thank you once again."

ICLS INTEGRATES LIVE CLASSES

June 2006: ICLS provides live face to face legal writing workshops and selected LL.B. revision courses in addition to it's online legal programme starting in the Toronto area this fall.

According to George Pappas, ICLS Executive Director, "ICLS will provide expanded teaching without any additional cost to ICLS students.  ICLS is going to do whatever it takes to increase the value of it's legal program.  We're excited about supporting our online programme with brick and mortar learning.  What's great about this development is that all ICLS students world wide will benefit since similarly registered ICLS students will receive the same review materials from the Toronto or New York City (or other location) seminars at no additional cost.  We're also looking at other locations and hope to announce further face to face teaching for the University of London LL.B. degree course."
